Is your bedroom suffering from decorating neglect? Well mine is. We’ve been in our house for nearly 4 years now and the bedroom beautifying has been totally overlooked. So now, I’m ready and I wanted to share with you my essentials on how to create my glam bedroom.
Firstly we need the essentials, which I already have minus a chair and foot stool. Obviously a bed, a head board, bedside tables, cosy chair with a foot stool is space allows, end of bed ottoman, floor standing mirror, desk with chair – again if space allows, a set of draws if you don’t have a WIR, a floor standing mirror and window treatments.
Some might maintain that the headboard does little more than keep pillows from falling off the mattress. We think it can set the mood for the entire room and upholstered headboards are one of 2012′s hottest design trends, but we’re not talking your average headboard, we’re talking creative fabrics, textures, and sizes.
Spatial plan your essentials into your bedroom, then layer, just like the images show. Layering the bed with crisp white linen then beautifying with decorative fabrics of texture and pattern. Don’t forget the sham at the end of the bed and some gorgeous cushions to finish off.
Layer bedside tables and furniture with lamps, stack of books – an always place an attractive item on top of the book as part of part of layering, decorative vases and scented candles, some fresh flowers, photo’s in frames and art that voice your personality. Layer your chairs and ottomans with comfy snug blankets.

Why not try some of these simple, easy changes to add some summer into your home.  

Restyle
Take out those dark accessories like rich deep velvet pillows, wool throws, and winter lamps and even that dark leather club chair and ottoman. Don’t worry! You can bring them back in when the weather changes. Replace with fresh summer colours.  

Add colour to your walls
It wouldn’t take long to put a fresh coat of summery paint in a room or just one wall. Add some wallpaper to really impress.

Add life.
Bring in fresh, flowering pot plants. Loads of them around at the moment.  

Brighten with White
nothing brightens up a room like white. Add it wherever you can.

Renew your furniture
Lighten up drab bookshelves. Add a new splash of colour then get creative and wallpaper the back of the book shelves with a bright, summery look. The books will really “pop out” against the contrasting color.

Casual says summer
Nothing says summer like “casual.” Use wicker, rush, iron, or painted white garden furniture in place of heavy upholstered pieces. Add lots colorful cushions.  

Rejuvenate your fireplace
Remove the dried logs from your fireplace and replace them with an impressive fern. Or replace your fire screen with painted on hinged shutters.
