One of the most classic design principles has to be a pair of chairs. While it’s nice every now and then to mix things up with separates, if the opportunity allows itself, the proportion of a pair of chairs adds balance and grounds the look of a room.
Having a bedroom sitting area doesn’t require tons of extra space. A pair of chairs at the end of the bed in lieu of a bed end ottoman gives that finished look and provides the perfect spot for reading or having a cup of coffee. To avoid the matchy look, try a set of mismatched night tables or lamps to mix things up.
In a living space proportioned for multiple sitting areas, using a C-shape configuration for a sofa and a pair of chairs can work perfectly. Try putting the chairs at perfect right angles for a cleaner, more streamlined look; to achieve a less tailored look – angle them.
